The Iconic Puzzle Game Wouldn't Win at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

As any prominent prize-giving event approaches, you'll find a demand for introducing additional classifications to recognize underappreciated efforts and delight the hearts of enthusiasts with niche passions.

Another commentator previously argued advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. The same goes for strategy board titles, representing a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to single-minded supporters, I possess a compelling case for why my demand stands as crucial and significant. The demand is this: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Categorizing Game Types

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it remains highly personal, and typically generate discussions concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that film award organizations don’t do it. Yet it remains a necessary evil within the realm of interactive entertainment, that demonstrate such variety they barely qualify as a single art form.

For the full spectrum of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to compete fairly, specific award classifications remain vital.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies offer these award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications successfully include a lot of ground, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere to put them. Think about these recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles of one title, intense tile-matching from another release, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles of a third title. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers released every year without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title received no recognition completely in 2014
  • Another imaginative release received no nominations that year
  • Popular arranging title got ignored recently
  • Limited numbers of logic titles barely qualified for niche award types

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, yet the craft behind logic titles carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles rank among the most-played games worldwide and have been for many years.

The legendary block-stacking game competes with well-known building titles for the title of most purchased experience; it’s also in the running as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences every year with ease — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these include experiences without proper classification in important events. Brain-teaser creators are working at the hard edge interactive creation, creating some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait decades.
